Two buses collide near Innsbruck, leaving nine injured

Nine people were slightly injured when two buses collided on the Brennerstraße near Innsbruck, ORF reported. Shattered windows caused the injuries in one of the buses, and eight people were taken to hospital.

At about 3:45 p.m., a 28-year-old bus driver travelling south went too far left while negotiating a right-hand bend and sideswiped an oncoming bus driven by a 52-year-old man.

The second bus was hit in the middle section, causing several windows to shatter. Falling glass injured nine passengers, according to the Innsbruck Red Cross.

Emergency services attended with nine vehicles, 24 paramedics and an emergency doctor. The professional fire brigade deployed five vehicles and 15 personnel.

The Brennerstraße was completely closed near the Peter-Longo bend from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Police reported substantial damage to both buses.
