Fügen, road crash, Tirol

Six people, including two children, were injured on Friday when a car crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle on the Zillertal road in Fügen, ORF reported.

A 52-year-old man was driving towards the interior of the valley when he crossed the centre line for reasons that remain unclear. A 35-year-old German woman was approaching in a fully occupied car with two other adults and her children, aged five and two.

The woman initially managed to swerve. The 52-year-old then hit a guardrail, was thrown back onto the road and crashed into the family’s car. Both vehicles ended up in an adjacent field.

All six occupants were injured. Four were taken by ambulance to Schwaz Hospital, while two, including one of the children, were flown by helicopter to Innsbruck.
