Unleashed dog bites woman in Pregarten forest

ORF reported that a 40-year-old woman was bitten several times on Wednesday evening in a forest in Pregarten, in the Freistadt district, after she intervened when an unleashed dog attacked her leashed dog.
The woman was walking her dog at about 8.30 p.m. Her animal was properly leashed. A 52-year-old man from the Freistadt district was also in the forest with his dog, which was not leashed and suddenly ran towards the woman’s dog.
When the woman tried to separate the fighting animals, the unleashed dog attacked and injured her. The dogs could only be separated after the 52-year-old arrived and brought his dog under control.
The woman suffered injuries of unspecified severity and was taken by ambulance to Freistadt State Hospital.
A similar incident occurred in Styria on Saturday, when a dog attacked and seriously injured a 10-year-old child. Police are investigating suspected negligent bodily injury.
