Burgenland, overnight stays, tourism

Burgenland recorded 1.94 million overnight stays from January to July, setting a new record, ORF reported. The figure was 0.1 percent higher than in the same period last year, according to Burgenland Tourism.

Overnight stays fell by 1.2 percent in July, however. Burgenland Tourism managing director Didi Tunkel said the month was marked by periods of extreme heat, prompting some holidaymakers to avoid the severe climate and weather conditions.

He said extending the summer season into spring and autumn was therefore increasingly important. July brought differing results across the region: overnight stays declined in northern Burgenland but increased in central and southern Burgenland.
