Two people were injured when a car left the B145 road in Bad Aussee in the Liezen district on Monday evening, ORF reported. The driver had to be freed from the wreckage.
The 56-year-old Croatian driver was trapped in the vehicle and seriously injured. After receiving medical stabilisation, he was freed using hydraulic rescue equipment and handed over to emergency doctors, the Bad Aussee volunteer fire brigade said.
Two colleagues were also in the car. The 62-year-old passenger in the back seat suffered minor injuries, while the 44-year-old front-seat passenger was unhurt. The injured men were taken to hospitals in Bad Ischl and Rottenmann, police said.
The car went over an embankment and came to rest in undergrowth in a ditch. The cause of the crash was not known.
Emergency crews from the Red Cross, the Bad Aussee and Reitern fire brigades, an emergency doctor, a rescue helicopter and Bad Aussee police attended the scene.
