Alcohol-impaired driver crashes into embankment in Lendorf

Sunday 23rd August 2026 on 21:15 in Austria

drink-driving, Lendorf, road accident

A 25-year-old driver left the road and crashed into an embankment in Lendorf in the Spittal an der Drau district on Sunday, ORF reported. A breathalyser found a low level of alcohol in his system, and police temporarily confiscated his driving licence.

The man was travelling east on a municipal road at about 5.40am when, for an unknown reason, his car veered off the road to the left and hit the adjacent steep embankment.

The impact threw the vehicle back onto the road, where it came to a stop in the middle of the carriageway. The driver was banned from continuing his journey and will be reported to the Spittal an der Drau district authority.

The car was written off and towed away. Firefighters from Lendorf absorbed fluids that had leaked from the vehicle.
