Sailboat carrying child capsizes on Lake Achensee

A sailboat carrying a 48-year-old woman and an 11-year-old child from Germany capsized on Lake Achensee on Saturday afternoon, ORF reported. Both people escaped the water without assistance and were uninjured.

The crew of a police boat spotted the overturned sailboat while travelling across the lake. The two passengers were on the boat’s hull when emergency responders reached them.

Responders brought them ashore, while water rescue teams recovered the sailboat and transported it to the shore. Police said the boat was also undamaged.
