Alcohol-impaired driver causes crash that injures four in Murau district

Four people were injured in a head-on collision on the L546 Stolzalpenstraße in Murau district on Sunday afternoon, ORF reported. All those involved were taken to hospital, and one of the drivers was under the influence of alcohol.

The crash happened at about 5 p.m. when a 19-year-old driver from Murau was travelling towards Stolzalpe. While overtaking another car on a left-hand bend, he lost control, crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming car.

The other vehicle was carrying a 60-year-old woman, her husband of the same age and their 31-year-old daughter. All four people, including the 19-year-old driver, suffered minor injuries. After receiving initial treatment, they were taken to a hospital in Friesach.

The young driver was under the influence of alcohol and will be reported to the authorities.
