Hiker falls 10 metres in Salzburg’s Pinzgau region

A woman was seriously injured after falling about 10 metres on the Smaragdweg trail in the Habachtal valley in the Pinzgau region on Saturday, ORF reported. She hit her head on a rock.

The woman suffered open wounds to her head and was found lying on the bank of the Habach stream after the fall, according to the Salzburg mountain rescue service.

Thirteen mountain rescuers from the Mittersill station carried her in a vacuum mattress on a mountain stretcher up to the trail. A rescue vehicle then took her to the Martin 6 rescue helicopter, which flew her to hospital.
