77-year-old man dies after swimming pool accident

A 77-year-old man died in hospital after a swimming pool accident in Oberndorf, in the Kitzbühel district, ORF reported. A 78-year-old woman found him unconscious and floating in the water on Thursday.

Two lifeguards pulled the man from the pool and began resuscitation. Emergency responders then took over, and the resuscitation efforts were successful.

The man was taken to St Johann Hospital with a minor head injury, but died there later the same day.

The circumstances of the accident and the exact cause of death remain unclear. An autopsy has been ordered, with results expected on Friday or early Saturday.
