Rail passengers travelling between Munich, Rosenheim and Salzburg will need to allow extra time in August because of construction work, BR reported. Several routes will have timetable changes, train cancellations and replacement buses.

From August 17 to 21, work will affect the line between Munich Central Station, Rosenheim and Salzburg, according to the Bayerische Regiobahn, a regional rail operator. Replacement buses will run between Rosenheim and Bergen, Übersee and Freilassing. On the section between Übersee, Bergen and Freilassing and Salzburg, some trains will be cancelled or run at different times.

Fewer services between Holzkirchen and Rosenheim

The work will also affect the Holzkirchen to Rosenheim route. During the night of August 20 to 21, the last two or three train services in each direction will be cancelled. Replacement buses will operate between Holzkirchen and Kreuzstraße.

Night buses to replace trains from August 10

Passengers will face disruptions in the preceding week as well. From August 10 to 13, buses will replace trains at night between Grafing station and Rosenheim. Individual trains may be cancelled and some stops may be omitted on certain sections. Bus and train departure times may also differ from the regular timetable.

The Bayerische Regiobahn is advising passengers to check the special timetables before travelling. Information is available on the operator’s website, through its construction newsletter and via its WhatsApp channels and Facebook page. Short-notice changes or extended construction work may not appear immediately in the electronic journey planner.
