Hechenberger seeks renewed run in 2027 Tyrol agriculture chamber election

Tyrol Agriculture Chamber President Josef Hechenberger wants to stand again as the lead candidate of the Austrian People’s Party Farmers’ Association in the chamber election in February 2027, ORF reported.

Hechenberger told ORF Tirol that he would very much like to run again and become head of the Tyrol Agriculture Chamber for another term. The nomination is the responsibility of the Farmers’ Association’s federal executive board, which is due to meet in the coming weeks.

Hechenberger has led the chamber in Tyrol for almost 20 years.

The Austrian People’s Party farmers hold 13 of the 16 seats in the chamber’s general assembly. In the previous election in 2021, however, the Farmers’ Association suffered significant losses to the Independent Farmers’ Association.
