Lower Austria parliament president Wilfing hospitalised after cycling emergency

Lower Austria’s parliament president Karl Wilfing was taken to hospital after a medical emergency during an excursion on the Thayatal cycling route on Monday, ORF reported. The circumstances remained unclear, according to his spokesperson.

Wilfing, 65, received initial treatment before being flown by rescue helicopter to St Pölten University Hospital, where he was being treated. His health condition was not immediately known.

Lower Austria Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner sent her wishes for a speedy recovery. “The only thing that matters now is that you get back on your feet soon,” she said in a written statement.
