Driver seriously injured after car overturns near Güssing

A driver was seriously injured when his car left the road and overturned in Neusiedl bei Güssing in the Güssing district on Sunday afternoon, ORF reported.

For reasons that remain unclear, the car first hit a traffic sign before crashing into a tree. The force of the collision caused the vehicle to overturn and land on its roof in an adjacent cornfield.

The driver was no longer inside the car when firefighters arrived. An emergency medical helicopter, Christophorus 16, flew him to hospital.

Ambulance crews and police also attended the scene. The fire brigade responded with 50 personnel.
