Two men were injured to an undetermined extent on Saturday afternoon when a heavily intoxicated driver hit trees on the Aschauer Straße near Kramsach, ORF reported.

The 31-year-old driver from Poland and his 43-year-old passenger were travelling out of the valley towards Kramsach. Shortly before the built-up area, the driver veered off the road to the right for reasons that remained unclear, according to police.

The car struck two trees, spun around and felled a mature spruce. Firefighters cut the tree into pieces to clear it from the road.

Both men received initial treatment from emergency responders before being taken to Kufstein Hospital. A breathalyser test showed that the driver was heavily intoxicated, and police temporarily confiscated his driving licence.

An emergency doctor, ambulance crews, the Kramsach volunteer fire brigade and a vehicle recovery company attended the scene.
