Frequency festival clears stage area over storm threat

Organisers cleared the area in front of the stages at the FM4 Frequency Festival in St. Pölten because of the risk of strong winds, ORF reported. Wind gusts of up to 70 km/h were expected, and visitors were told to move to safety.

Performances by British singer-songwriter Tom Odell on the main stage and Sub Focus on the Green Stage were cancelled for safety reasons.

“We are expecting wind gusts of around 70 km/h, but hope to continue the programme afterwards,” organiser Harry Jenner told ORF. Festival staff were keeping visitors informed through the app and video screens, while the halls remained open.

A meteorologist was monitoring the conditions at the festival, with updates issued roughly every 15 minutes. The area directly in front of the stages was cleared because objects could fall, although no such incident had occurred, Jenner said.

According to the latest information displayed on the festival’s video wall, organisers planned to resume the programme at 9.45 p.m. with a performance by Sido.
