Four injured after car crashes off A2 motorway

Four people were injured when a German-registered car carrying four occupants crashed off the A2 motorway on Tuesday, broadcaster ORF reported.

The vehicle broke through the guardrail and overturned, coming to rest on its roof. Two occupants were able to get out on their own, while two others were trapped inside.

Firefighters from Markt Allhau and Hartberg freed the two trapped occupants. All four were taken to hospital with injuries of unspecified severity. The ÖAMTC C16 emergency helicopter also attended the scene.

The crash site was partly restricted and at times completely impassable during the rescue operation. The fire brigades returned to their stations after about two and a half hours.
