Gollrad, Styria, traffic accident

A 67-year-old car driver died after a collision with a lorry on the B20 at Gollrad in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district on Monday, ORF reported.

The crash occurred at about 11.39 a.m. on the Seeberg Road. A 61-year-old lorry driver from the Czech Republic was travelling towards Seeberg when the car approached from the opposite direction.

For reasons that remain unclear, the car crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the lorry. The force of the impact caused the car to overturn several times before coming to rest on its roof.

An emergency doctor pronounced the car driver dead at the scene. The lorry driver freed himself from the damaged vehicle and was taken to the Hochsteiermark Hospital in Leoben for initial medical treatment. A breathalyser test was negative.

The B20 was completely closed until about 4.20 p.m. Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances, including why the car crossed into the opposite lane.
