Police seek witnesses after attack outside Gmunden venue

A 20-year-old man was attacked and injured by several men outside a venue on Gmunden’s Rathausplatz town square during the night into Saturday, ORF reported. The attackers allegedly also threatened to kill him.

According to police, the incident happened at about 12.50 a.m. in the venue’s entrance area. The 20-year-old, from the Vöcklabruck district, said an older man first attacked him from behind and knocked him to the ground.

At least three other men then allegedly joined the attack and struck the man while he was on the ground. He eventually escaped across Rathausplatz towards Kirchengasse.

The man suffered injuries of unspecified severity. He said many people were in and around the square at the time, and police are appealing for witnesses.
