Car plunges 20 metres from Brenner motorway, injuring two

A car apparently left the Brenner motorway near Schönberg in the Innsbruck-Land district on Wednesday and plunged about 20 metres into steep terrain, ORF reported. Two people were injured, one seriously, according to the Red Cross.

Emergency crews treated the occupants at the scene before taking them to a clinic in Innsbruck. A crane was used to recover the vehicle.

The crash happened at about 1 p.m. near the exit by the Europabrücke service station. Police, firefighters, ASFINAG and mountain rescue teams also responded. Further details about the exact cause of the crash and the identities of those injured were not initially available.
