Crash involving two cars and motorcycle injures seven on Fernpass

Seven people were injured, two seriously, when two cars and a motorcycle collided on the Fernpass road in Tyrol on Wednesday afternoon, ORF reported, citing initial information from the Tyrol control centre.

The crash happened at about 3.30pm near Samerangersee lake in the municipality of Nassereith. One vehicle fell about 30 metres into steep terrain.

Emergency medical helicopters flew the two seriously injured people to hospitals in Innsbruck and Murnau. Rescue vehicles took the five people with minor injuries to hospitals in Zams and Reutte.

Mountain rescue teams also attended because of the difficult terrain. The Fernpass road was closed after the crash, causing extensive traffic jams.
