Representatives responsible for women’s affairs in Austria’s states approved 19 measures focused on violence and equality at a meeting in Frauenkirchen, ORF’s Carinthia service reported.

The agenda included efforts to combat digital and domestic violence, improve women’s safety in public spaces and strengthen sexual self-determination. Other topics included gender medicine, fairer pensions, pay transparency, greater involvement of fathers in family work, action against cyberstalking and sexualised deepfakes, and equality in the labour market.

Carinthia brought three proposals to the meeting. It joined other states in calling for stronger action against digital violence targeting women and girls. It also proposed examining which parts of Spain’s approach to domestic violence, particularly its assessment of risk, could be applied in Austria.

Carinthia and Burgenland also called for the gender medicine training course developed in Carinthia to be introduced across Austria. Carinthia’s regional councillor Marika Lagger-Pöllinger said the aim was to turn the resolutions into practical improvements, including faster support for women affected by violence and better protection in digital spaces.
