A Styrian investor group plans to reopen the Almdorf Seinerzeit chalet resort on the Falkert under the new name Am Hochfalk, with hotel and chalet rentals expected to resume in 2027, ORF reports.
The resort went bankrupt two years ago, followed by months of negotiations with the insolvency administrator. Reichenau Mayor Karl Lessiak said the project offered hope for the future and could bring more visitors to the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve and businesses on the mountain and in the valley.
The investors plan to renovate the chalet village and make a hotel its centrepiece. Investor Philipp Sager said the project would require an investment in the tens of millions of euros, but he did not provide an exact figure. The purchase price has been reported as 8.5 million euros.
The plan includes 32 chalets for tourist rentals and 24 residences. Some luxury chalets will be sold as second homes to help finance hotel operations. Hotel manager Doris Raminger will oversee the project, which is intended to combine the residences and chalets with a four-star superior hotel.
The hotel and rental chalets are due to open during the 2027 winter season. The wellness facilities will take longer, while new buildings are expected to be completed the following year, subject to permits.
