Police in Tyrol seized a 24-year-old woman’s car after she was caught driving at more than 160 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Thursday evening, ORF reported. She also had her driving licence provisionally taken away.
The woman overtook an unmarked patrol from the Tyrol police traffic department at about 8.40 p.m. on the Pass-Thurn road in the municipality of Oberndorf, in Kitzbühel district. Officers pursued her and recorded a speed more than 100 km/h above the limit.
The patrol stopped her in the municipality of St. Johann in Tirol. She now faces administrative proceedings before the district authority, which will decide whether her car is permanently confiscated and auctioned.
Since legislation allowing vehicles to be seized from speeding drivers took effect in March 2024, no such vehicle has been auctioned in Tyrol.
