S6 near Leoben reopens all lanes after seven-month overhaul

All lanes on the S6 Semmering Expressway near Leoben reopened on Friday after a seven-month renovation, ORF reported. The motorway operator ASFINAG said the work was completed as planned.

The road had been restricted to one lane in places while about four kilometres of the carriageway towards Seebenstein underwent a major refurbishment.

Workers also upgraded safety systems in the second tubes of the Niklasdorf and Massenberg tunnels, including LED lighting, ventilation, video and emergency call systems. Tunnel controls and traffic guidance technology were also modernised.
