Two women steal gold jewellery after booking room in Spittal district

Two unidentified women stole gold jewellery and a mobile phone from a home in the Spittal district after booking a room there through an online portal, ORF reported.

The women arrived at about 6 p.m. on Thursday and called the host, a 62-year-old man. He answered but was not at the property. The women then entered his father’s apartment through an unlocked patio door.

They started a conversation with the 93-year-old man and left him sitting in the kitchen while they searched the house. They fled with the jewellery and phone.

Police put the loss in the mid-four-figure euro range and are investigating.
