Police stop Cybertruck on A99 over driver’s licence

Sunday 25th October 2026 on 11:45 in Bavaria

Bavaria, Cybertruck, Tesla

Police stopped a Polish-registered Tesla Cybertruck on the A99 motorway near Vaterstetten after finding its 50-year-old Swedish driver did not have the required licence, BR reported. Officers barred him from continuing his journey.

The Cybertruck has a permitted gross weight of 4.2 tonnes, meaning it cannot be driven with a standard category B car licence. The driver needed a category C1 licence, police said.

The vehicle was allowed on German roads because it was registered in Poland. Cybertrucks cannot currently be registered in Germany, but vehicles registered abroad may be driven in the country if all requirements are met.
