87-year-old woman dies months after Salzburg robbery

An 87-year-old woman who was attacked in her home in Taxham, a district of Salzburg, in mid-June has died from her serious injuries, ORF reported Friday. The Salzburg public prosecutor’s office confirmed her death.

An autopsy has been ordered. Two Romanian men are in pretrial detention, and investigators are now treating the case as robbery resulting in death.

Acquaintances found the woman injured at home after she failed to attend an arranged meeting. She is believed to have been attacked the previous day and unable to call for help. Relatives later found that valuables were missing from the home.
