Motorcyclist escapes crash but is stung by wasp

A 54-year-old German motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a wasp stung him on the tongue following a crash on the Hochfügenerstraße in Tyrol’s Schwaz district, ORF reported.

The man was riding from Hochfügen towards Fügen on Tuesday afternoon when he lost control for reasons that remain unclear. He jumped clear before his motorcycle plunged about 60 metres down a slope.

He sustained only minor injuries and initially did not need medical treatment. But while drinking from a bottle as emergency responders dealt with the crash, he was stung by a wasp, which was thought to have been inside the bottle. He was taken by ambulance to Schwaz Hospital as a precaution.

Fügen’s volunteer fire brigade recovered the motorcycle.
