Motorcyclist seriously injured in Halbenrain collision

A 57-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car in Halbenrain in southeastern Styria on Friday evening, ORF reported. The car driver is believed to have failed to see the motorcyclist while turning.

The 59-year-old driver was travelling from Stainz bei Straden towards Halbenrain shortly before 9 p.m. and wanted to turn at a junction leading to the B69. The vehicles collided.

The motorcyclist received initial treatment from the car driver and emergency responders who happened to be passing. He was then flown by rescue helicopter to Graz University Hospital. The car driver was not injured.

Also on Friday, an 82-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car in Fürstenfeld. The 81-year-old driver is also believed to have failed to see the motorcyclist while turning.

In Brodersdorf in the Graz-Umgebung district, a car driver was seriously injured early Saturday after losing control of his vehicle on the B65. The car left the road and hit a wall. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to hospital. His identity and the extent of his injuries were not immediately known.
