The Eisenstadt Public Prosecutor’s Office has dropped an investigation into the possible disclosure of a report about quarries closed because of asbestos contamination, ORF reported on Wednesday.
Prosecutor’s office spokeswoman Petra Bauer said numerous people had access to the information, so investigators could not establish who passed the document to non-governmental organisations.
Quarry operators had complained that they learned about the information from media reports. The investigation was opened against unknown persons on suspicion of breaching a duty of confidentiality. It was discontinued because no misconduct could be proven against anyone at the district administration involved.
