Tirol Red Cross offers free emergency information capsules for refrigerators

The Red Cross in Tirol will offer free emergency information capsules from Nov. 9, ORF reported. The small capsules hold personal and medical details that can help rescuers if someone cannot provide information themselves.

They can contain details such as medications, allergies and emergency contacts. The capsule is kept in the refrigerator door for quick access, while stickers on the home’s entrance door and the refrigerator alert emergency crews to its presence.

Andreas Mader of the Red Cross said the capsule is suitable for everyone, especially people who take medication regularly. Users collect one from a participating distribution point, fill it in and place it in the refrigerator. The information can be updated as needed.

The Red Cross does not store digital data about the capsule or its contents. The capsules are free, and voluntary donations help fund more of them.
