Man allegedly threatens Vienna snack bar owner over beer

A 24-year-old man allegedly threatened a snack bar owner with a kitchen knife and stole several cans of beer in Vienna’s Floridsdorf district on Sunday morning, ORF reported. Police arrested him nearby.

The Austrian had first asked for beer, but the owner refused. The man then allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and threatened the owner.

When a customer entered, the suspect dropped the knife, took several cans from a refrigerator and fled. He had allegedly punched the owner before leaving.

Police arrested the 24-year-old during an immediate search. Police said he tried to bite an officer during the arrest. Because of his aggressive behaviour, he was placed in a security cell. He declined to give a statement during questioning.
