Schneiders creditors to receive 26.6 percent after insolvency

Creditors of Salzburg clothing manufacturer Schneiders will receive a final payout of 26.6 percent of their registered claims, ORF reported. The distribution was approved at the Regional Court in Salzburg on Monday, more than three years after the company filed for insolvency.
A total of 461 creditors registered claims worth €14.6 million against the insolvent company, according to the KSV 1870 creditors’ protection association. They will recover just over a quarter of the money they were owed.
Schneiders, based in the Liefering district of Salzburg, produced high-quality women’s and men’s clothing for indoor and outdoor use. The company grew out of Schneiders Mantelfabrik, founded in 1946.
The Schneider family owned the company until 2018, when Wolfgang Binder and Peter Wagner GmbH took over. In October 2020, Schneiders opened a flagship store on Griesgasse in Salzburg’s old town.
The company had cited the effects of the war in Ukraine as the main reason for its insolvency and restructuring application. Rising transport and raw-material costs, as well as falling sales linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, had also contributed to its financial difficulties.
