Two crashes in Lower Austria leave 10 people injured

Two road crashes in Lower Austria left 10 people injured on Sunday, including six in a collision caused by a drunk driver, ORF reported.

A 32-year-old man from Hollabrunn district crashed into the rear of a car driven by a 30-year-old on the Donauuferautobahn A22 motorway near Stockerau in Korneuburg district. Both drivers were injured, along with four passengers.

Rescue services took the injured to nearby hospitals, the Lower Austria State Police Directorate said. Police temporarily confiscated the drunk driver’s licence, and reports will be filed with the district authority and public prosecutor’s office.

Four injured in crash involving motorhome

In a separate crash at a junction in Karlstift, Gmünd district, a car collided with a motorhome. The motorhome, driven by a 74-year-old man, then hit a tree.

The motorhome driver suffered serious injuries and was flown by emergency helicopter to Krems University Hospital. His 73-year-old passenger was also injured and taken to hospital, as were the two occupants of the car, women aged 53 and 72 from Upper Austria.
