Three seriously injured in separate crashes in Styria

Three people were seriously injured in three traffic accidents in Styria on Saturday, ORF reported. A 65-year-old motorcyclist was thrown over a crash barrier and into the Mürz riverbed in Neuberg an der Mürz.

The man was travelling on the B23 late in the morning when he suddenly crossed into the opposite lane on a bend, police said. He hit a crash barrier and fell down an embankment before landing in the riverbed. Eyewitnesses gave him first aid and alerted emergency services. A rescue helicopter took him to Graz Hospital.

Later that evening, a 58-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash involving his e-bike in the Arzwaldgraben while travelling towards Waldstein in Deutschfeistritz. He left the road for an unknown reason and struck a thuja hedge. The Red Cross treated him at the scene before he was flown by rescue helicopter to the University Hospital Graz.

In Obdach, three 18-year-olds, two women and a man, were travelling in a car on Saturday evening when the female driver left the road on a bend. The car overturned. The female passenger was seriously injured, while the driver and the male passenger in the rear suffered minor injuries. All three were taken to hospitals.
