Admira Dornbirn completes new clubhouse after devastating fire

Admira Dornbirn’s new clubhouse has been completed around 18 months after a major fire destroyed the club’s building at the Rohrbach sports facility in Dornbirn, ORF reported. The city rebuilt it on the existing foundations at a cost of 2.45 million euros.

The clubhouse is due to open on September 19 as part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of SC Admira Dornbirn.

The fire broke out on the morning of December 16, 2024, completely destroying the building. More than 60 firefighters responded, and nearby residents reported explosions. No one was inside at the time, but the damage was extensive. The clubhouse, built in 2009, was destroyed along with changing rooms, equipment and club records.

To keep training and matches going, the city installed containers at the facility in spring 2025. For around 18 months, they served as changing rooms, sanitary facilities and club rooms, including for youth teams that train at Rohrbach each week.

The new building has the same external dimensions as the former clubhouse and includes the restored grandstand. It provides around 960 square metres of covered space, including changing rooms, sanitary facilities, club rooms, a kitchen, a serving area, storage and technical rooms, as well as a covered hospitality area.

The clubhouse was built using prefabricated timber elements, allowing the shell to be erected quickly. A photovoltaic system was installed on the green roof, while air to water heat pumps provide heating. The construction was financed mainly through insurance payments.

Dornbirn Mayor Markus Fäßler of the Social Democratic Party said the city had wanted to respond quickly after the fire while developing a lasting solution for the sports facility.

The cause of the fire could not be established, according to the city. Arson had also been considered. Admira, founded in 1946, will celebrate its anniversary with football, music and other events during the opening weekend.
