Wolf shot in Montafon confirmed as livestock attacker

The wolf shot in early August in Montafon was likely responsible for earlier livestock kills, ORF Vorarlberg reported. The animal had killed two cattle and a donkey.

Vorarlberg state councillor Christian Gantner said a wolf of Italian origin was identified in both the shot wolf and the killed animals. No further confirmed livestock kills have been reported in the affected area since the shooting. The shooting order expired immediately after the wolf was killed.

The one to two-year-old female wolf was shot in Montafon. A further suspected wolf attack occurred in Tschagguns several days ago, where a lamb was killed. Much points to a wolf, but this has not yet been confirmed, Gantner said.
