More than 2,000 runners took part in the 26th Achensee run on Sunday in ideal conditions, ORF reported. Dutch runner Collin van Almkerk won the men’s race, while South Tyrolean athlete Selina Christandl took the women’s title.

The main event covered 23 kilometres. Van Almkerk finished in 1:26:21 and won the race for the second time. Christandl won the women’s race in 1:45:54.

“I was already here as a child at the Achensee run when my mother took part. That alone makes it particularly beautiful and emotional for me,” Christandl said.

The start and finish area was at Fischergut in Pertisau. The event also included a children’s race over distances from 400 metres to 1.7 kilometres, a 14.5-kilometre fitness run and a relay race covering 14.5 and 8.5 kilometres.
