19-year-old faces manslaughter charge over Geretsried deaths

A judge has issued an arrest warrant for a 19-year-old man suspected of killing his father and grandmother in Geretsried, Upper Bavaria, BR reported. Police and prosecutors said the German national is accused of manslaughter.

Police were called to the apartment building on Tuesday afternoon after blood traces were found on an apartment door. Officers discovered a 73-year-old woman and her 53-year-old son dead inside. Both showed clear signs of severe violence, according to police.

Investigators identified the dead woman’s grandson and the man’s son as a highly suspected perpetrator. A judge issued the warrant on Wednesday at the request of prosecutors.

The 19-year-old is receiving inpatient treatment in a hospital because of his health condition and is being guarded by police.

The motive and circumstances remain unclear and are the subject of ongoing investigations. Police are seeking witnesses who saw suspicious people or vehicles near the apartment building on Königsberger Weg between Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon.
