Lisec to cut 52 jobs at Seitenstetten plant

Lisec, a machinery manufacturer in Seitenstetten in the Amstetten district, will cut 52 jobs this autumn, ORF reports. The company attributed the reductions to the prolonged recession in the construction industry and the resulting decline in orders.

The 52 positions have been registered with the Public Employment Service Austria’s early-warning system. The dismissals are expected to take effect at the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth quarter. The cuts will affect all areas of the company.

Lisec employs around 1,250 people worldwide and plans to reduce its workforce by about 10 per cent. The company said the global construction recession had lasted for more than three years and was affecting its customers, most of which process glass for insulating glass units, facade glass elements or interior glass.

Lisec has recorded a noticeable decline in orders since the second quarter of 2025. The reluctance of glass processors to invest has also affected manufacturers of glass-processing machinery, including Lisec.

The company said there was currently no sign of a recovery in the construction and glass-processing industries. It is also adjusting its corporate structures worldwide to reduce costs, but said it believed the construction industry had passed its lowest point and would gradually consolidate. Lisec said it did not currently expect further measures to be necessary.
