A 33-year-old driver was injured after his car struck a concrete fence post near Grafenstein on Tuesday evening, ORF reported. A breath test was positive.
The man was driving towards Grafenstein on the Grafensteiner Straße, a road, near Gumisch at about 9 p.m. when his car veered off the road to the right for reasons that are not yet known and hit the post head-on.
He got out of the car but then felt weak and lay down. A nearby resident heard the crash, gave first aid and called emergency services.
The Grafenstein fire brigade assisted with first aid until two first responders arrived and secured the crash scene. The 33-year-old was treated and stabilised by the first responders, an emergency doctor team and ambulance staff, then taken to Klagenfurt Hospital. The car was written off.
