An 18-year-old Croatian man suspected of 12 house burglaries in Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Vienna has been extradited from Belgium and taken to a correctional facility in Wiener Neustadt, ORF reported.

The man was arrested in Belgium on October 20 under a European arrest warrant. After his extradition last Thursday, he refused to answer questions during questioning.

He had first been taken into custody in February, when he was 17, after a burglary at a home in Perchtoldsdorf in the Mödling district. Cash and jewellery worth several thousand euros were stolen. The items were recovered, and prosecutors allowed him to remain at liberty after he was reported.

Further inquiries linked him to 12 residential burglaries, according to Lower Austria’s police directorate. Four were attempted break-ins. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at about 35,000 euros.
