road accident, Wiesing, wildlife collision

A 19-year-old driver was injured when his car plunged about 20 metres into a forest near Wiesing on Saturday evening after he swerved to avoid a deer, ORF reported.

The Portuguese man was travelling from the Achensee towards Wiesing on the Achenseestraße (B181). Below Kanzelkehre, he said, a deer suddenly ran onto the road.

He lost control of the car, which went onto a roadside embankment, crossed the road and was thrown into a field. It then fell down a steep slope into the forest and stopped after hitting a tree.

Emergency crews gave the driver first aid before taking him to Schwaz District Hospital for further medical assessment. The Jenbach volunteer fire brigade recovered the car. Two police patrols, two fire brigade vehicles carrying 18 responders and an ambulance attended.
