Forty-four films will compete for the Golden Chamois at the 14th Kitzbühel Film Festival from November 24 to 28, ORF reports. Italian actor Franco Nero will receive this year’s honorary award.
The competition includes short films, feature films and documentaries. The Golden Chamois will be presented on November 25 at the Romy industry event. Festival awards recognise Austrian and international feature films, documentaries and shorts, as well as Mountain Sport Shorts.
Films on the programme include Frauke Finsterwalder’s “Eurotrash”, Peter Brunner’s “Down the Arm of God” and Manuel Wetscher’s “Eklipse”. The festival will also premiere “Der Todesengel”, an ORF crime film directed by Götz Spielmann. The competition features cinema, streaming and television productions.
Nero, who turns 85 on November 23, is known for films including “Django”, “The Day of the Owl” and “Camelot”. German actor Iris Berben received the honorary award in 2025; previous recipients include Philipp Hochmair and Aglaia Szyszkowitz.
The 2026 KURIER ROMY Gala, held in cooperation with the festival, is scheduled for November 27 at Kaps Castle. From November 25 to 28, the festival will also host industry events, including FFKB Connect, panels and a think tank focused on project development, production, distribution and film financing.
