A 25-year-old woman was seriously injured after falling about 30 metres on a little-used route near Brünnstein, but another hiker heard her and raised the alarm, BR reported.
The woman was hiking alone towards Buchau on Friday when she left the path and fell through rocky woodland at Fritzenwand. She came to rest against a tree. Police said the accident site could not be seen from the main hiking trail.
A 21-year-old hiker on a different path heard rocks falling and someone groaning. Suspecting an accident, he followed the sounds, found the injured woman, gave first aid and called emergency services.
Mountain rescuers carried her to a point where a rescue helicopter could pick her up. The response involved 15 members of the Oberaudorf mountain rescue service, three emergency doctors and two rescue helicopters.
