Bernd Wiesberger finished 13th at the Open de España in Madrid on Sunday, keeping his bid for a PGA Tour card on track, ORF reported.
The 41-year-old shot a six-under-par 65 in the final round, his best of the tournament, climbing 26 places. He finished on eight under par with 276 strokes, six behind winner Grant Forrest of Scotland. The tournament offered a total purse of $3.75 million.
Wiesberger made five birdies and an eagle against one bogey, with much of his strong finish coming on the back nine. He is now 13th in the Race to Dubai standings. At the end of the season, the top 10 players without a PGA Tour card earn the right to play on the tour. Maximilian Steinlechner missed the cut.
