Altach beat WAC 3-0 to escape last place

SCR Altach beat Wolfsberger AC 3-0 in a direct clash at the bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga, handing the last-place “red lantern” to WAC. ORF reported that Ousmane Diawara scored twice and Benjamin Böckle added the other goal.

Diawara opened the scoring in the sixth minute, and Böckle made it 2-0 in the 13th. WAC captain Simon Piesinger was sent off in the 44th minute for bringing down Diawara as the last defender. Diawara scored again four minutes after the break.

Altach also finished with 10 men after Mike Bähre was shown a straight red card in the 62nd minute for kicking Thorsten Schriebl in the chest. WAC substitute Sankara Karamoko later had a goal ruled out for offside, while Altach’s Denizcan Cosgun hit the crossbar.

The win moved Altach up to second-last after five consecutive defeats. WAC have not won since beating Austria 3-0 in their opening match of the season.
