About 400 emergency responders are due to take part in a disaster exercise in Adnet and Krispl on Saturday, simulating prolonged heavy rain, ORF reported. The exercise, TENT ’26, is being led by the Hallein District Authority.
The scenario involves several simulated damage sites near the Wiestal reservoir. The district authority has activated its emergency operations team. Participating organisations include the volunteer fire service, the Red Cross, mountain rescue, cave rescue and water rescue.
The exercise focuses on joint operations, with two units working together at each simulated damage site. Around 150 firefighters from several municipalities and about 100 Red Cross volunteers are taking part. Mountain rescue and water rescue each have about 50 participants. Cave rescue teams are practising with modern rope and transport techniques.
The L107 Wiestal road is scheduled to remain closed from 11 a.m. until no later than 7 p.m. Traffic will be diverted via the Krispler road, with volunteer firefighters directing vehicles.
The exercise follows several months of preparation. Organisers are also testing backup power at the Hallein District Authority’s emergency operations room, which can operate independently for up to 72 hours.
