Dölsach, road accident, Tirol

Two people were injured, one seriously, in a crash on the B100 road near Dölsach in the Lienz district on Friday, ORF reported. A 52-year-old driver told police he had drifted onto the oncoming lane after briefly falling asleep.

The crash happened at about 11.30am east of Dölsach. A 66-year-old woman was driving towards Nikolsdorf as the man travelled towards Lienz. The vehicles collided side-on, and the force of the impact caused the woman’s car to overturn. Both cars came to rest in a ditch.

The woman suffered serious injuries to her right hand and was flown by the C7 emergency helicopter to Klagenfurt Accident Hospital. The man sustained chest injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lienz Hospital.

The Dölsach Volunteer Fire Brigade attended with three vehicles and 18 members. Ambulance crews responded with five vehicles and 10 staff. The C7 helicopter had three crew members on board.
